Events in Downtown Winston-Salem This Fall

Looking for something to do this fall? Winston-Salem will be holding many fun-filled activities. Events listed are held specifically within walking distance of the college, so there is no excuse to not fill your planner with fall fun. Get ready to put on your favorite oversized thrift store sweater and cover yourself in pumpkin scented perfume. It’s fall ya’ll!

*Activities directed towards a 21+ age group will have a star next to them.

Gary Taylor’s “Dracula” – Oct. 26-28: Held at the Hanesbrands Theatre, this is a sensual and contemporary revisitation of the age-old tale.

“Silent Night” – Oct. 27-31: Silent Night is an opera dedicated to World War I. It will be held at the UNC School of the Arts Stevens Center.

Legends and Lanterns Halloween Tour – Oct. 27-28: Enjoy a 45 minute to 1 hour haunted tour in Old Salem.

Old Salem Autumn Leaves Walking Tour – Oct. 27: Learn about the variety of trees inhabiting Old Salem in this walking tour with Toby Bost.

Salem College Breast Cancer Awareness Event – Oct. 27: From 12 to 1 p.m. engage in an important discussion about breast health and hear a survivor’s story. This event will be held in Shirley Recital Hall.

Ram Day 9th Annual Day Party – Oct. 27: Help WSSU kick off their homecoming with an exclusive day party held at BB&T Ball Field.

*Halloween Party at the Millennium Center – Oct. 28: Kick off Halloween the right way with a costume party at the Millennium Center.

Theatre Alliance Auditions – Oct. 28: The Theatre Alliance will be holding auditions for five of their upcoming shows.

2017 Jukebot Halloween Costume Party – Oct.  28: The Garage will be hosting their 6th annual Halloween Costume Party.

*October Wine Dinner – Oct. 29: Di Lisio’s will be continuing their 5 course meal and wine pairing costume party this fall. Be sure to make reservations! The best costume gets a free meal!

Sonya Clark: Entanglements Exhibit – Nov. 1-Jan. 7: Sonya Clark debuts her fiber art exhibition at SECCA.

Attack of the Cheesy Horror Movies – Nov. 2: The Kaleideum North will be showing terrible horror movies in their Planetarium.

Gallery Hop – Nov. 3: Start in Piedmont Craftsmen gallery for the first gallery hop of November!

International Dinner and Show: Nov. 4: Immerse yourself in culture at Salem’s International Dinner and Show. The show will be held in the Refectory.

Momma’s Boy: The Play – Nov. 4: Enjoy a comedic coming-of-age tale at the LJVM Coliseum.

2017 A Space Oddity Showcase – Nov. 4: The Hanesbrands Theatre is presenting a dance performance about romance and experience, all held in space.

Reynolda After Hours’ Camel City Cocktail – Nov. 10: Enjoy live music and dancing as Reynolda House celebrates its 100th birthday.

Greek Bake Sale – Nov. 11: The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church will begin serving traditional Greek food at 11 a.m. This includes lunch, dinner, and assorted pastries.

FemFest 2017 – Nov. 11-12: Test Pattern will be hosting this years FemFest, an event to promote awareness against sexual assault and domestic violence. All of the proceeds go to Winston Salem’s women’s shelter.

Angelo’s Artisan Market – Nov. 11 – 12: Plan on spending a pretty penny here, Angelo’s Market presents upcycled, handmade and vintage antiques that are hard to resist. This event is held at Wise Man Brewing.

“The Real Mayberry Screening” at A/perture – Nov. 14: A/perture Cinema is holding a special screening of “The Real Mayberry”, a film about a small southern town that continues to be steadfast in tradition.

8th Annual Taste of the South – Nov.16: Taste of the South is a music and silent auction event held to promote and fund the Just Us program, a program dedicated to introducing the arts to court-referred teens. This will be held at the Milton Rhodes Center for the Arts.

Bloom Hand-Crafted Art Fair – Nov. 18: Redeemer Presbyterian Church will be holding a hand-crafted art fair and silent auction to support a local triad charity.

Turkey Strut 5K – Nov. 23: Run (or walk) in the 10th annual Turkey Strut 5K. Bring at least 3 canned goods in order to participate. This event will be held at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds.

Possum Jenkins’ Annual Black Friday Bash – Nov. 24: Possum Jenkins’ will be playing at The Garage to “help you cope with the holidays.” Enough said.

*Moravian Porter Release Party – Nov. 24: Foothills will be bottling and selling their Moravian Porter at their Tasting Room. Holiday gift boxes will be on sale, and plenty of food trucks will be there.

Thanksgathering 2017 – Nov. 22 – 26: Listen to some funky music at the Millennium Center with a plethora of groovy bands.

Sustainable Art: A Field Trip to the Olio – Nov. 28: The Olio will be offering a one-hour demonstration and discussion on glassblowing.

Salem College Dance Performance – Nov. 30-Dec. 2: The Salem Dance Department will be holding their annual and much awaited dance performance.
