Do you remember Whose Line Is It Anyway, MadTV, SNL, or The Carol Burnett Show?
On Monday Nov. 23, Salem’s newest acting troupe, Potpourri, will host its first interest meeting. Potpourri focuses on promoting artistic expression among women that is both original and diverse. Dramatic interpretations (skits, improvisational acting and play-lets) can pertain to both serious and comical social issues of everyday life.
Potpourri is not affiliated with and/or funded by SGA and is a hybrid (online and in person) club. Most meetings will be held in a hybrid style via Google Docs and Skype to accommodate for students’ busy schedules.
Potpourri’s creations will consist of play-lets and one-act plays, improvisational pieces, monologues, soliloquies and skits. These can be performed individuality as well as in groups of varying sizes. As a member, you have the option to work as an actor, writer, idea creator, extra, costume designer, prop coordinator, makeup artist, performance reviewer and promoter.
Potpourri is a platform presenting original works by women for women. No experience necessary to join. It takes a community effort to make a group like this one come to life. The interest meeting on Nov. 23 will consist of improvisational exercises, rules, layout, and planning for future Potpourri events.
