The Center For Women Writers has invited debut novelist Kim Church to read from her work at their annual event Bread & Words.

Though Church is the featured speaker for it, Bread & Words is also an open mic event. Students, staff, and faculty are invited to read their own work or recite work by another writer. There will be up to 10 readers and each are given a five minute time slot to read.
All of the works read will center around the following themes: compassion, joy, bounty, harvest, hunger, gratitude, generosity, family, and community.
The Center hosts the event each year to raise donations for Second Harvest Food Bank, a food bank located in Winston-Salem. Typically everyone who attends brings with them a non-perishable food item, as the event is free to those who donate such items.
Though Church is the featured speaker for it, Bread & Words is also an open mic event. However, there are only ten spots open to Salem students and the community for readers.
Kim Church will be the featured speaker at Bread & Words this year.
